This fin makes a "high" rather than an elongate fish. Juveniles lack this long extension to the dorsal fin.

Popular in the retail aquarium trade, these fish are also known as "Wimple Fish."

Habitat/Range
Coral reefs of the tropical Pacific Ocean.
Wild Diet
Coral polyps, Plankton, and Algae.
Predators
Larger fish, Invertebrates, and Humans.
Reproduction
Pennant coralfish spawn during winter and early spring. Spawning occurs between a single pair. Each female produces about 20,000 eggs.
Conservation Status
THREATENED
Consequences of human activities, such as runoff from agriculture and overfishing, threaten the habitat of all coral reef animals.
