Small size
The spotted turtle is one of Michigan's smallest turtles, growing only to 5 inches in length.
Basking behavior
They are often seen on logs during the spring, summer, and fall basking in the sun for warmth

Habitat/Range
Small ponds, bogs, and grassy marshes in the Great Lakes region and the eastern seaboard of the United States
Wild Diet
Snails, Worms, Crayfish, Algae, and Fruit
Predators
Birds of prey, Raccoons, and Humans
Reproduction
Up to 7 eggs (usually fewer) are laid in early summer. The eggs hatch in approximately 2 months.
Conservation
THREATENED
Threatened by the destruction of its wetland habitat and by overcollection for the pet trade.
