With the help of a special adaptation called the Jacobsons' Organ, the tongue is used to catch smells from the air.

Reproduction
Very little is known about the reproduction of this species. Based on information learned at the Detroit Zoo, 5 or more eggs are laid per clutch and the incubation period is between 3 and 8 months.

UNKNOWN
Very little is known about the conservation status and the natural history of this species. However, it is not believed to be endangered at this time.
