Malacochersus tornieri
Flat, soft shell
When in danger, these tortoises seek the shelter of deep rock crevices where they lock themselves in place with their front legs.
Powerful legs
Strong legs are necessary for these tortoises to climb the rocky outcroppings of their habitat.

Reproduction
Usually a single egg is laid which hatches after approximately 6 months.

Rare because of its small, scattered population and collection for the pet trade.
