Using their pointed beak, these cranes will search the ground for tubers, seeds, and insects to eat.

White-naped cranes will defend their territory from other animals.

Habitat/Range
Flat, marshy, non-forested areas in Asia during breeding; brackish marshlands and rice paddies in Asia during winters.
Wild Diet
Tubers, Seeds, Grain, Insects, Fish, Crustaceans, and Small rodents.
Predators
Foxes, Wild cats, and Humans.
Reproduction
Breeding begins when the birds are 3 years of age. Two eggs are laid in April or May which take 30 days to hatch. The chicks are ready to fly about 80 days after hatching.
Conservation
ENDANGERED
Endangered due to habitat destruction and hunting.
