ROYAL OAK, Mich., June 11, 2012 – Calling all budding TV reporters!  The Detroit Zoological Society and FOX 2 are teaming up to give a few lucky kids from Metro Detroit their “15 minutes of fame”.

Three children from the FOX 2 viewing area will be selected as Junior Zoo Reporters, each of whom will deliver a news report from a Detroit Zoo animal habitat for FOX 2 News.  The Junior Zoo Reporter contest was announced today on FOX 2 News Morning.

“Kids love animals and the community loves their Zoo, so we’re excited to work with Fox 2 to showcase the reporting skills of our young fans,” said Detroit Zoological Society Executive Director Ron Kagan.

FOX 2 is inviting parents of children ages 8 to 13 to submit a video of their youngster delivering a report on the zoo animal of their choice to MyFOXDetroit.com.  The videos must be one minute or less in length and submitted by 10 p.m. local time on June 29.

Fifteen randomly selected videos will be placed on MyFOXDetroit.com, and FOX 2 will invite its viewers and website visitors to vote for their favorite Junior Zoo Reporter candidate.  The winners will be announced on FOX 2 News Morning.

Each of the three Junior Zoo Reporters will create a feature story at the Detroit Zoo for broadcast on FOX 2 News in August, September and October respectively.
