Zoo Boo, presented by Meijer, is the Detroit Zoo’s annual, family-friendly Halloween event. Zoo Boo is a merry-not-scary Halloween celebration with a cleverly decorated half-mile trick-or-treat trail through the Zoo. Live, friendly entertainment awaits your costume-clad little ones in the Zoo Boo Revue tent sponsored by National City, now a part of PNC, and they will be delighted to try their luck at the Ghouly Games Tent, sponsored by Blue Care Network. Stop by the haunted Reptile House, sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus and visit the ghosts and goblins who have made the Reptile House their home for the holiday season, and take a ride on the Wild Adventure Ride: Dracula’s Haunted Castle (additional $2 per person), sponsored by State Farm.
New for 2009 – hop, creep, slither or crawl into the National Amphibian Conservation Center for the Amphibian Fun House, sponsored by Tim Hortons. The Amphibian Fun House will feature hundreds of fascinating, slithery and slimy creatures of the amphibian world that go “jump” in the night including frogs, toads, newts, salamanders and more. Trick-or-treaters can test their bravery playing Amphibian Fun Factor, a unique and kid-friendly version of the popular show “Fear Factor.”
Members can purchase their tickets starting Tuesday, September 1, at Guest Relations and Window 1 at the front of the Zoo, or by purchasing through our online server. General public tickets go on sale October 1 at the front of the Zoo and on the website. Tickets are $6 for ages 2 and up. If a date and time slot is not sold out, a limited number of tickets will be available at the gate after 5 p.m. that day for $10 per person. Walk up ticket sales will end at 8:15 p.m. each night.
Zoo Boo takes place October 16-18, 23-25 and 29-31, and tickets are available for the following times each evening: 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m. The gates close at 8:30 p.m. for entry. This event does sell out, so purchase your tickets early! Zoo Boo is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be issued.
