Animals After Dark
The Detroit Zoo’s Animals After Dark Overnight Program is an experience like no other!
Come to the Detroit Zoo for a fun-filled night of guided tours, animal-themed activities, a marshmallows roast, hands-on biofact interactions and more. Knowledgeable staff will escort groups throughout the program, telling stories and providing information about the Zoo’s animals. We will start off the night with a pizza dinner and then knowledgeable staff will escort you throughout the activities and hikes, telling stories and providing information about the Zoo and the animals. In the morning, groups will enjoy a continental breakfast and tour of the Zoo as the animals rise and shine, and visit an animal habitat for a zookeeper talk. The cost includes admission for all participants the day following their overnight, and each participant will receive a special “Animals After Dark” T-shirt. Funds from this program support animal care and enrichment, which can be seen all over the Zoo. Groups will go outside year-round and should dress for the weather!
The overnight experience runs from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning. The minimum size for youth and scout groups is 25, which includes youth and chaperones. A ratio of adults to youth must be at least 1:5 throughout the entire program.
Cost: $75 per person
(A deposit of $750 is due at the time of registration with the remaining balance due four weeks prior to the overnight. Group cancellations must be made at least four weeks in advance to receive a deposit refund.)
Family Overnight dates are available where the 25 person minimum does not apply. Individual families with children are welcome to participate in the overnight program together. This is an opportunity to spend time with each other while experiencing the Zoo in a whole new way!
2015 Family Overnight Dates are:
