Are you looking for a unique setting to
hold your next party or celebration? The Detroit Zoo is the ideal setting for an experience your group will never forget. From elegant weddings and formal affairs, to corporate meetings and events, to fundraisers for your favorite charity, to bar and bat mitzvahs with family and friends or casual company picnics, the Detroit Zoo provides an extraordinary setting for your special occasion.

Our unique venues and
top-notch event and catering staffs will make your event truly unforgettable. Overall, the Detroit Zoo can accommodate groups of 20 to 2,000. Events are held year-round in many of the Zoo's one of-a-kind facilities. The newest locations are in the new Ford Education Center and include the 240-seat Theater and 2,500-square-foot Exhibit Gallery, plus the Children's Gallery, Conference Room and Leaf Room dining area. Another popular site is the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, featuring art exhibits, a 2,000-gallon coral reef aquarium, a 90-seat theater, and the lush, tropical butterfly garden. The award-winning National Amphibian Conservation Center lets guests experience the rainforest in the Immersion Gallery, and also has a small theater and patio areas bordering the wetland habitat.

On evenings between mid-May and mid-August, large or small outdoor gatherings can be arranged at the Rackham Fountain or under our large picnic tent in the main picnic grove. In addition, corporations can rent out the entire park from 6-9 p.m., giving your employees or guests exclusive use. Picnics at the Zoo also are very popular, with an outdoor feast followed by a walk through the park to enjoy the animals and exhibits.

Take advantage of the Zoo's transportation systems. All ages enjoy our famous Tauber Family Railroad, which provides a fun-filled, nostalgic trip from the front of the park to our Africa train station at the back of the park. Zoo trams can take you and your party on a guided tour led by knowledgeable docents. These outdoor journeys are available from May through September (weekends in October).
