“Weekend Walk – Owl Prowl”
Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, 7 p.m. 
Learn about these nocturnal hunters, and then venture out in the dark with us to see and hear them during this guided walk. Pre-registration required.

December, 2009

“Stop in, See”
Saturday, December 5, noon - 2 p.m.
Stop in and see special "nature stuff " on display, talk with an interpreter and check out the hands-on items . No registration  necessary. 

“Just for Homeschoolers – In the Pines”
Thursday, December 10, 1 p.m.
Evergreens are coming in for the holidays, so it’s a great time to take a closer look at the world of conifers.  Pre-registration required.

“Weekend Walk – Chill Out”
Saturday, December 19, noon
Join the interpreters to see what winter has to offer on this guided hike.  Pre-registration required.

Join an interepreter as we search for tracks and the animals that made them on this guided hike.

Thursday, January 21, 1 p.m.
Find out how to prepared for a winter worst case scenario and plan for survival when the temperature drops.

February, 2010

"Weekend Walk - Snowshoeing"
Saturday, February 6, noon
Discover the fun of snowshoeing during this guided walk.  No experience necessary.  Weather permitting.

"Just for Homeschoolers - Bows and Arrows"
Thursday, February 11, 1 p.m.
Join in as we get a little hands-on and investigate Cupid's tools of the trade.

Thursday, February 25, 1 p.m.
In this program we'll explore how humans have turned the sheep's cold weather insulator into our own.


Scout  Badge Programs
Earn merit badge requirements by visiting the Belle Isle Nature Zoo!  Bring your troop, pack or den and choose one of our daytime adventures.  All badge requirements are fullfilled in these indoor/outdoor programs. There is a maximum of 35  scouts per program. Most programs do not require a minimum.  Pre-registration is required and no fee. Contact the Belle Isle Nature Zoo (313) 852-4056 ext.201.
