Field Trip Experiences

 

Fascinating, age-level-appropriate experiences for all grades teach important concepts about animals, habitats and ecosystems to complement Michigan State Curriculum Benchmarks. New programs at the Ford Education Center include a presentation in one of our exciting immersion studios and a docent-guided Zoo tour.  Please contact our Education Registrar at 248-541-5717 ext. 3800 to choose a date. Short and Tall, Big and Small – the animal kingdom has them all! We'll look at lots of zoo animals to see how they are similar and how they are different. This program provides an introduction to animal classification.

(SCI - LECIII.5.2)
Whether up a tree or down a hole, there's no place like home. We'll discover why animals have some very odd homes. Children will discover that we all have the same basic needs.

All living creatures experience many changes throughout their lives. We'll look at the different lifecycles of several zoo animals and discover how they are similar and different to our own.

Animals have the tools to find a meal and (hopefully) avoid becoming someone else's meal. We'll explore different food webs and the roles the animals play in their ecosystem.

Students will learn all about adaptations as they observe physical features and animal behaviors. Kids will demonstrate what they have learned by making their own creative creatures.

All life is connected. Explore the different relationships between plants, animals, and their environment. Students will learn the impact of breaking the links in this web.
