Art for All Ages 

 

Release your creative inner beast!  Experience the wild side of the  arts - painting, drawing, papermaking, puppetry and mask-making - as you explore the many native and exotic Zoo animals and exciting wildlife art collection!  Master basic artistic skills in a variety of art media, materials and techniques as you incorporate your new animal knowledge and creative  skills into a unique collection of zoo-inspired masterpieces!

We've split our 8 week art courses into two 4 week courses, allowing for more flexibility for your busy schedule! Register for one, both or two different programs for a variety of art!

You’ll use the Zoo’s collection of living animals and exciting wildlife art collection to inspire you as you sharpen your skills in observing nature and learning the basic principals of simple illustration. Program cost is $55 for members, $60 for non-members. Adults 16 years of age and up. A materials' list will be provided. Sign up for four weeksor eight weeks of artistic instruction.
Dates:  Part 1-Feb. 7-28, 9-11 a.m.         Part 2-March 7-28, 9-11 a.m.
                                              Part 1-April 18-May 9, 9-11 a.m.  Part 2-May 16 –June 6, 9-11 a.m.

You’ll use the Zoo’s collection of living reptiles and other exciting animals to inspire you as you sharpen your skills in observing nature and learning the basic principles of simple illustration. You’ll incorporate your new drawing skills with a story you have written into your very own wildlife book/journal. Program cost is $70 for members, $75 for non-members. Youth ages 6 to 15. Sign up for four weeks or eight weeks of artistic instruction.

Learn the fascinating and unique processes involved in the age-old technique of papermaking. You’ll discover ways to make your own handmade paper using recyclable/renewable resources from the natural world all around us! You'll create a book of your own handmade paper and other handmade paper art objects! Program cost is $70 for members, $75 for non-members. Youth ages 6 to 15. Sign up for four weeks or eight weeks of artistic instruction.

Discover people from different cultures all around the world that make and wear animal masks!! Learn about animal masks, what they are used for, and the materials they are made of.  Explore techniques for making your own  exciting wildlife masks of your favorite zoo animals! Program cost is $70 for members, $75 for non-members. Youth ages 6 to 15.

Celebrate wildlife as you work with an artist puppeteer using a wide variety of fun materials to create a number of your own different styles and types of animal puppets! You'll incorporate your fantastic new creations into a puppet play based on a story you develop! Program cost is $70 for members, $75 for non-members. Youth ages 6 to 15. Sign up for four weeks or eight weeks of artistic instruction.
