Treat Mom to Breakfast at the Detroit Zoo

ROYAL OAK, Mich., April 23, 2009 – Moms and their families are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day with a delicious buffet breakfast among the butterflies at the Detroit Zoo.  A Mother’s Day Breakfast will be held in the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery on Sunday, May 10, 2009, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The cost, which includes Zoo admission and parking, is $35 for adults and $30 for children 12 and under.  The cost for Detroit Zoological Society members is $25 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.  Tickets must be purchased for all children regardless of age as seating is limited.  For reservations, call (248) 541-5717, ext. 3750. 

The Detroit Zoological Society also has the perfect Mother’s Day gift idea for any mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, niece, sister or friend.  The Society is featuring a polar bear for its WildLife Preserver “Adopt”-an-Animal program.  The gift package includes a miniature plush polar bear in a gift box with a personalized adoption certificate and fact sheet about the species. 

The cost of an adoption is $25, which includes shipping and handling.  Proceeds from the “Adopt”-an-Animal program support the animals at the Detroit Zoo through habitat renovation and veterinary treatment.  The program also supports Species Survival Plans, a cooperative breeding and conservation program in which the Zoo participates.
