ROYAL OAK, Mich., October 27, 2009 – The Detroit Zoological Society will host the Sowing Seeds Humane Education Workshop, presented by the Institute for Humane Education, on Saturday, November 7, 2009, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Ford Education Center.

Sponsored by the Madeleine Berman Academy for Humane Education, the workshop is designed to train educators to effectively teach critical thinking about social justice, environmental ethics and animal protection to enhance students’ understanding of how their choices impact themselves, other people, other species and the Earth.

The “Sowing Seeds” workshop is recommended for classroom teachers and community educators, but is also open to students, animal management professionals, animal activists and other persons interested in humane education.
