Detroit Zoo to Host Mosaic Youth Theatre Performances
ROYAL OAK, Mich., July 16, 2009 – The Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit will perform “Zoo Medleys” and “Agent OOPaw: The Return of the Seal” on various weekends throughout the summer at the Detroit Zoo.  The free, 30-minute performances will take place in the Main Picnic Grove at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on July 18 and 19, August 15, 16, 29 and 30 and September 5, 6 and 7.

“Zoo Medleys” are songs about the animals of the Detroit Zoo utilizing popular melodies.  “Agent OOPaw: The Return of the Seal” is a theatrical piece that takes a lighthearted look at the adaptability of polar bears while telling the fanciful story of Agent OOPaw as he attempts to apprehend the leader of the Diabolical Seal Gang.

The Mosaic Youth Theatre performances highlight humane education in a way that is fun and entertaining for audiences of all ages, according to the Detroit Zoological Society’s Director of Education Irma J. Hamilton.  “Our goal is to inspire visitors to take care of the earth and the animals that inhabit it.  We look for different ways to do that, and theater is a wonderful way to reach people.”

The Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit is an award-winning professional performing arts training program.  Its mission is to empower young people and maximize their potential through professional performing arts.
