ROYAL OAK, Mich., June 12, 2009 – Families are invited to experience Dinosauria at dusk and a sleepover at the Detroit Zoo at “DinoSnores” from 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009. Guests will spend the night in the Ford Education Center after a fun-filled evening throughout the Zoo.
The overnight adventure will feature a dusk walk through the DinoTrail led by paleontologist, author and storyteller Joseph “PaleoJoe” Kchodl. Activities will also include a marshmallow roast, craft project, night hike through the Zoo, movie and breakfast at an animal habitat. The cost for “DinoSnores” is $50 per person.

PaleoJoe will also appear on the three-acre DinoTrail and at the Ford Education Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 17, educating visitors about dinosaurs and fossils. He is scheduled to return to the Detroit Zoo on Thursday, August 6, and Wednesday, September 2.
Dinosauria, presented by Kroger, features 19 life-like animatronic dinosaurs that roar, snarl and move. Dinosauria is open daily through Labor Day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (until 7 p.m. Wednesdays during July and August). Tickets are $3 with Zoo admission for visitors of all ages and are available at main admissions and the Dinosauria ticket booth.
Opportunities to attend the July 17 “DinoSnores” overnight experience will be offered as Sunset Keys prizes at the Detroit Zoological Society’s annual Sunset at the Zoo fundraiser gala on Friday, June 19, 2009, 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The year’s wildest party features a strolling supper, zoo-themed martinis, live entertainment, dancing, and live and silent auctions. The Detroit Zoological Society is a non-profit organization that operates the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Zoo.
