ROYAL OAK, Mich., May 11, 2009 - Canadians looking for a “wild” way to celebrate Victoria Day can find it across the border at the Detroit Zoo.  On Monday, May 18, 2009, Canadian currency will be accepted at par value throughout the Zoo in honor of the Canadian national holiday.

Canadian citizens may use the Windsor Star Victoria Day coupon or present Canadian identification to receive par value on Detroit Zoo admissions, parking, concessions, gift shop purchases, stroller rentals and Zoo memberships.  Par value also applies to attractions such as Dinosauria, Wild Adventure Ride, Tauber Family Railroad and Giraffe Encounter.

Established in 1901, Victoria Day is observed annually on the Monday prior to May 25 in celebration of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II.
