ROYAL OAK, Mich., June 22, 2009 – The Detroit Zoo is about to get even wilder with its annual Wild Summer Nights concert series on Wednesday nights during July and August.  The concerts take place in the Zoo’s Main Picnic Grove from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 1 through August 26, 2009, and are free with regular Zoo admission.

Wild Summer Nights features a variety of live music from local bands, including children’s, pop, folk and blues.  Concert-goers are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets.  In addition, food, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase from Zoo concessions. 

The Zoo will remain open until 8 p.m. and Dinosauria until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays during the concert series.

• August 26 – The Sun Messengers (Motown/R&B)

The Wild Summer Nights concert series is supported by Oakland County Parks, radio partner AM580 and newspapers The Daily Tribune, The Macomb Daily and The Oakland Press.
