Belle Isle Nature Zoo Participates in Youth Day July 8
DETROIT, Mich., July 2, 2009 – The Belle Isle Nature Zoo will participate in Metro Detroit Youth Day Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Belle Isle.

The Nature Zoo will sponsor live performances by the award-winning Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, highlighting humane education in a way that is fun and entertaining for audiences of all ages.  In addition, Detroit Zoological Society Education Specialist David Gakure will speak about his 17 years educating adventurers as a naturalist guide in Nairobi, Kenya.  

The largest youth event in Michigan, Metro Detroit Youth Day unites the area’s youth from all backgrounds.  The annual event includes youth leadership, sports clinics, games, contests, anti-substance abuse activities, scholarship awards, motivational speakers and entertainment. 

The Belle Isle Nature Zoo is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round and provides educational programming with interpretive staff support from the Huron-Clinton Metroparks.  Admission is free.  For more information, call (313) 852-4056 or visit www.detroitzoo.org.
