Picnic and Private Zoo Evenings

Summer Season:
Picnic sites can be rented for corporate functions, reunions, and school and scout groups, among others. The picnic site rental fee is $100 for a reserved area in the park (tent rental additional). For large groups, over 1,000, requiring the use of the entire main picnic grove area, the picnic site rental fee is $300 (tent rental additional). Tents can be rented only with a catered event.

Private Zoo evenings can be rented for exclusive use from mid-May through mid-August. The rental time is 6-9 p.m. The $5,000 rental fee includes up to 1,000 guests; over 1,000 would be an additional $6 per person.

The base price of $5,000 includes all outdoor exhibits including Arctic Ring of Life and Australian Outback Adventure. The following buildings, rides and transportation can be included for an additional fee: 

$1,500 - Wildlife Interpretive Gallery
$1,000 - National Amphibian Conservation Center
$1,500 - Wild Adventure Ride
$250 - Tauber Family Railroad (per hour, per train - two trains available)
$100 - Tram (per hour, per tram - two trams available)

The Wildlife Interpretive Gallery:

The Nautilus Room can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.

Half Day (4 hours) $250.00
Full Day (8 hours) $400.00


The Gallery Theatre, with its state-of-the-art A/V capabilities, can accommodate up to 90 people. 

Rates:
$400 1-4 hours
$600 5-8 hours 

Rental times for both locations are:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - April-October
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - November-March.
The rental fee includes parking.



Ford Education Center    
Available: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Theatre
Capacity: 260

Minimum two-hour rental $400
Each additional hour $100

- Fee includes parking but does not include admission into the Zoo or use of other Zoo exhibits.
- November through March – coat check is recommended.
- Food and beverage service is through the Detroit Zoo Catering Division.

Education Studios

Blue: Freezing and Dark;
Green: Drippy and Wet
Each studio, Blue or Green, can be divided into two rooms, which seat 36 people; each studio accommodates 72 seated. Standing receptions: 100 per studio. Facility rental fee includes screen.

Four hour rental
$400 per section or $600 per studio
Each additional hour
$100 per section or $200 per studio

Conference Room

Capacity: 24 people

Minimum two-hour rental $150
Each additional hour $50
