Description:
This is a PAID internship. Please note: you must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week from May-August (4 months).

We are looking for a talented college student for our Merchandising internship opportunity in our Retail Division. As part of the store sales team, you will experience firsthand the daily operations of a high volume, faced-paced cultural attraction retail store and be actively engaged in sales leadership, inventory flow, event planning and merchandise presentation. You will interact with senior management who will coach and mentor you throughout the program.
Responsibilities:
• Work under the supervision of Operations/Merchandising Manager to perform analysis, inventory control and administrative duties related to the merchandising of the zoo gift shops and interact with visitors
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Must currently be enrolled at an accredited college or university
• will consider students that have completed at least four (4) semesters of college from the following majors: Merchandising, Retail Management, Business, Marketing, Hospitality
• Experience in Retail is strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of the following computer applications are highly desired: Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Excellent oral, written and telephonic communication skills
• Ability to differentiate between colors
• Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
• Ability to lift boxes up to 30 pounds
• Ability to operate general office equipment (fax machine, photocopier, computer printer) stationed between 3 and 4 feet high
Credit:
Students must provide information from their school on internship requirements as well as the certification documentation necessary to receive credit.
