Food Service Intern

Company: Service Systems Associates, the exclusive service provider of Concessions, Retail, Grounds keeping, and Custodial at the Detroit Zoo.

Description:
This is a PAID internship. Please note: you must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week from May-August (4 months).

We are looking for a talented college student for our Concessions internship opportunity in our Concessions Division.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for assisting in all concession functions, including but not limited to: Manage the daily operations of the concession stands, both permanent and temporary facilities.
• Supervise and guide all personnel.
• Purchasing and inventory control.
• Coordinate and execute all health inspections from local county health dept.
• Check-in employees each morning and assist in the opening of their stands.
• Assist in conducting an opening inventory for each stand.
• Maintain an accurate inventory level for each stand and warehouse.
• Communicate inventory needs to Warehouse Supervisor.
• Assist with stocking and re-stocking of products in stands.
• Ensure that proper paperwork is filled out and filed for all movement of product and signatures are obtained.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Must currently be enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Experience in customer service and supervision of personnel preferred.
• The ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• The ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
• Competence and learning ability in various computer programs.
• High integrity and confidentiality.
• Effective leader with strong people skills.
• Innovative thinker and self-starter.
• Effective communication skills, time management, and detail oriented.
• Professionalism and ability to handle customer needs.
