It’s Big, It’s Bold, It’s Back... the DinoSimulator!
The Detroit Zoo has re-introduced the amazing DinoSimulator at the Wild Adventure Ride, part of the Zoo’s Dinosauria experience this summer.
The plot of the DinoSimulator revolves around the Centre for Advanced Paleontological Research, a fictional institute founded in 1990 after a one-of-a-kind dino dig site was discovered in northern Ontario, Canada. The site contained dinosaur body fossils along with dinosaur tracks. The discovery of this site opened new research possibilities, allowing the Centre to apply the latest in simulation technology to create a “you are there” experience.
The Wild Adventure Ride offers our visitors a unique and engaging educational experience and, by making the DinoSimulator part of the overall Dinosauria experience, the Zoo hopes to entertain and educate visitors through this unique production revealed in three parts.
Part One of the adventure introduces guests to the show. You are part of an exploratory team of dinosaur experts. In Part Two, you meet the principal characters, who carefully present the data collected, their dino dig findings, and invite the audience to experience the Centre’s latest dino simulations for themselves. In Part Three, fasten your seatbelt and get ready to see, feel and experience the world through the eyes of these extraordinary creatures!
The DinoSimulator experience premiered May 13 and runs through Labor Day at the Wild Adventure Ride, located inside the Ford Education Center. It is open to the public during regular Zoo hours, and show times vary. Tickets are $3 per person (with Zoo admission) for all ages. The DinoSimulator experience may NOT be suitable for everyone as the show may contain extreme motion and graphics that may be considered too much for younger children and some guests. Due to the nature of the experience, we do recommend that all riders are at least 5 years of age, and a 36-inch height restriction also applies.
