Cub Photos (November 2004)
Bärle, a female polar bear rescued by the Detroit Zoo, gave birth November 22, making this the first polar bear cub born at the Detroit Zoo in almost 15 years. The first-time mother is nursing her cub in a maternity den behind-the-scenes at the award-winning Arctic Ring of Life. It will take several months until the cub is old enough to venture out into the exhibit where visitors can see it.
