The Students
Education is one of the missions of the modern zoo. The veterinary staff accepts qualified students from all five Michigan veterinary technician schools and from veterinary colleges around the country for special training in zoo medicine. Both teachers and students can learn a lot!









The Rest Of The Story
Zoo veterinarians are also involved in animal reproduction, necropsies (animal autopsies), research, public health (of the zoo staff and the general public), exhibit design, and animal welfare. With all this work to do, it is a joy to take a few minutes to walk through the zoo and "visit" with one of our newest animal patients.
