West Indes iguana

Iguana delicatissima
This rare species is closely related to the common green iguana, which has a huge range throughout Central and South America (and parts of the Caribbean) and which is commonly seen in the pet trade. Certain populations of this species closely resemble the green iguana, while others more resemble the unusual rhinoceros iguana. It is rarely exhibited in zoos, and has not yet been reproduced in U.S. collections. Two of our specimens were originally confiscated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for illegal importation, while the other two were captive-bred at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in the Channel Islands, U.K.
