Otters are adapted to a watery world. Valves in the nostrils and ears close to keep water out,. and dense fur creates a warm wetsuit.
Playful predator
Playing strengthens social bonds and may help the otters practice and improve their hunting skills.

The mother creates an underground den for her litter of 2-3 young. At 2-3 month the young will accompany her on foraging trips. Young reach adult size at one year.

Threatened due to habitat loss and overtrapping.
