The prairie dog "town" exists mostly below ground. This complex burrow system features many different rooms including food storage areas and sleeping rooms.

Reproduction
Three to 5 pups are born after a gestation of one month. They are born deaf, blind, and hairless but are watched by the "town". Prairie dogs are mature at one year and live for 3 to 5 years.
