Bärle and Talini
Bärle, a female polar bear rescued by the Detroit Zoo, gave birth Nov. 22nd, 2004 to Talini, making this the first polar bear cub born at the Detroit Zoo in almost 15 years. The first-time mother is taking care of her cub at the award-winning Arctic Ring of Life. View the history of Talini in movies below:
SEPTEMBER - 2005

Month 10: Bärle and Talini can be seen in the pack ice pool at the Arctic Ring of Life. Talini is now 10 months old.

AUGUST - 2005
Month 8: Bärle and Talini enjoy a water melon on a hot summer day. Talini is now 8 months old and doing great.

Week 16: The very playful cub is now 4 months of age. It enjoys playing with it's new toy and jumping on mom.

Week 7: The cub is now able to pull itself up and is taking a few coordinated steps on its own. The cub's ears are also more developed.

DECEMBER - 2004
Week 5: The cub continues to grow stronger and become more independent everyday. Bärle often cradles her cub while they sleep. The cub's eyes are starting to open at this time.

Week 4: The cub continues to thrive and do well. Muscle coordination is increasing and the cub has taken a few steps on its own.

Week 3: You can now see more fur growth on the cub and its lips are turning black, similar to an adult polar bear. The cub continues to grow and become more coordinated.
