Primary Goals

Mission Statement: To provide a collaboratively managed resource of captive-propagated amphibian populations that enhances zoo-based education, conservation and research programs.

Goal 1: Regularly revise, publish and disseminate a Regional Collection Plan that is user-friendly for a variety of potential consumers in both small and large zoological institutions to meet their specific institutional needs in a manner that contributes to the goals of the Amphibian Taxon Advisory Group (ATAG).

Goal 2: Ensure that captive management programs at the SSP or PMP level are prioritized by their relevance to field studies and conservation programs that improve the plight of their wild populations, enhance the knowledge of the taxon's natural history, and engage local communities in conservation of the taxon and its ecosystem.

Goal 3: Provide a forum for communication that allows individuals to seek advice or information on various aspects of amphibian management: husbandry, natural history, conservation, research, educational themes and presentations, facility and operational concerns, keeper training and development, and interacting with governmental management groups with current or potential oversight of conservation programs.
